You Get What You Pay For!!

I am so grateful for the forgiveness and redemption that I could not pay for and did not deserve. But let’s talk about the things in life that we have the power to invest in or “pay for.”

I have always been a big believer in the thought that you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a little more quality, you better be prepared to pay a little more!

Why would we think this is any different when it comes to the quality of our family and relationships? Why do we have this notion that we don’t have to work on our relationships with our spouses and children and expect healthy results? It is simply an unreasonable expectation.

Dennis Rainey states that relationships are living breathing organisms. A relationship does not stay stagnant. It is either moving towards oneness or isolation. It is not a video game that you paused and come back to pick up where you left off. When you come back to work on it you will quickly realize that you have lost ground. Your wife and children feel isolated and that you do not care because you did not invest in them.

There are some actions that we can take to be sure that your relationships are moving in the right direction. I know that I have said it before, but there is an attack on the family unit in America. There is an enemy that desires to break up the family and sift the men like wheat. If the man, who God appointed as the leader is broken, defeated, leading improperly, then the enemy has made the head of the family of none affect. As a husband and father it is my responsibility to lead, nourish, encourage, teach, motivate.. I have the responsibility of making sure that ever one of the people God has placed under my care are reaching their full potential. I am a servant leader! I am setting the tome for my family everyday!

  • Have you spent time in the Word of God to understand what you are to be doing to cultivate the peace and love that you want in your home?
  • Have you spent time learning what your responsibility is as a Godly Husband and Father?
  • Have you just taken time to listen and not speak? James wrote in the first chapter of his book, “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath.”

If your answers are “No” to these questions, why are you surprised when you collapse under the pressure of family challenges? Why are you surprised when your wife and children do not respect and love you the way you would hope? You have not set the tone of how a healthy family acts, relates and grows. Have you invested in, instructed and loved them as you should? Positive results do not come by mistake! It comes by hard work and dedication! You be the change that you want to see and watch the results that come over time.

I challenge you to dedicate yourself to making your family healthy. You dedicate yourself to work projects, business start-ups, continued education.. Why not your family?
